Amphithea of Ioannina
Just 3 km. from the center of Ioannina is Perama with the famous cave. The road continues along the coast and slowly begins to gain altitude. Very quickly (at 6 km from the center of Ioannina) we reach Amphithea. This village is built at 500 m. altitude and has a permanent population of about 600 inhabitants.
There you will find the well-known restaurant “To Souvlaki tou Vounou” which will offer you a wide variety of meats, all grilled. In it you will be enchanted by its unique view of the city and the lake of Ioannina. It has a comfortable parking lot, a children’s playground as well as a small zoo.

Metsovo
Metsovo, the beautiful town of Pindos. It is one of the most picturesque traditional towns of Greece and captivates the visitor with its unique images. It is famous for the textile and woodcarving art which are in great development and are one of the important occupations of the inhabitants.
Visit the Tositsa mansion, the Evangelos Averof art gallery, the cobbled streets, the monastery of Agios Nikolaos, the museums as well as the twenty traditional fountains. Also, visit Anthochori with the open-air hydrodynamic museum, the village of Anilio and Votonosi, Chrysovitsa with the Monastery of Panagia as well as the traditional settlement of Milia.
Traditional taverns, traditional flavors, picturesque cafes, restaurants, bars and cafes await you to enjoy the rich dishes as well as beautiful moments of relaxation.
Konitsa
Konitsa is one of the most beautiful coastal areas. According to tradition, the city of Konitsa is built on the ancient Konissos. Konitsa is built according to the traditional style of Continental architecture.
You will admire old mansions from the Turkish period, cobbled streets, traditional stone bridges, monasteries and many cultural monuments. It is an absolute harmonization of yesterday with today.
Enjoy the unique view next to the banks of the Aoos river, its ravine that will enchant you, while you also have the possibility to go rafting in the wonderful waters of the Aoos. Don’t forget to try the excellent mezes in the tavernas of the area!
Dodona
Dodoni is a historical area known for the ancient theater and the Oracle of Dodoni, which was second in importance in Ancient Greece after that of Delphi.
The archaeological site of Dodoni is located 22 km. southwest of the city of Ioannina at the foot of Mount Tomaros.
The name Dodoni probably came from the oceanic Nymph of the same name or from the Dodon river.
Distrato
Distrato is located on the borders of the prefecture of Ioannina and the prefecture of Grevena and is built at the foot of Vasilitsa and Smolika, at an altitude of 1100 meters.
It is located in an area of rare beauty filled with pine, beech, cedar forests, as well as rivers and streams that tear the slopes ending up in the Aoos river. The rich vegetation, abundant water are one of the most important factors for the ideal living of wild animals and mammals.
You can visit the chapel of Prophet Ilias which is located in the north of Distratos, go skiing at the Vasilitsa Ski Center where the original “Distratos” chalet operates which offers you a magnificent view, walk along the picturesque paths as well as kayak in Aoos.
Zagorochoria
Zagorochoria is a network of 46 beautiful villages that pop up scattered among the pine and fir forested mountains of Pindos, northeast of the city of Ioannina. Zagorochoria are famous for their incredible natural beauty, their unique architecture and their long history.
The Zagorochoria have an area of approximately 1,000 sq km and are divided into three geographical sections: Western Zagori which includes the villages of Megalo Papigo & Mikro Papigo, Aristi, the Eastern which includes the villages of the Bardas Valley, the villages of the Zagoritikos Valley etc. .and the Central Zagori which includes Monodendri, Vitsa, Asprangelos, Kipis, Dilofos etc. Each section has its own distinct beauty and history.
In Zagorochoria you can see: The Voidomatis River, an earthly paradise with crystal clear waters and dense plane trees that flood the area around the river, The Bridges. Vikos Gorge is in the Guinness book as the gorge with the smallest opening, only 1100 meters at its narrowest point and at the same time a depth exceeding 900 meters.
Lord Byron in Zitsa
In addition to being a well-known Philhellenic, poet and revolutionary, Lord Byron was a fan of Zitsa and its wines. It was in October 1809, when together with his good friend John Cam Hobhouse, he was hosted at the Monastery of Ai Lea in Zitsa, where he tasted the monastery wines of the region, was impressed and said that they were among the best in Europe.
In turn Hobhouse mentions in his diary that Abbot Gregory offered them a white wine of which he was very proud.
Although it was Lord Byron’s first visit to Greece, the experiences he lived in our country were enough to push him to join the Greeks in the fight for their independence. His presence in Zitsa is evidenced even today, both by the stone inscription at the entrance of the Monastery of Prophet Elias, and by his poem “Child Harold’s Pilgrimage”, which praises the heavenly environment of our place.
"Bourazani" Environmental Park
The Environmental Park has existed since 1916 and the space can be visited and can receive people of all ages daily, aware, or not yet, of ecological issues.
The main purpose is to accommodate the animals, to maintain the balance of the animal population, to observe the animals in their natural environment, to provide information on their biological cycles, to provide information on the flora and fauna of the Burazani region, as well as the efforts to preserve the environment and culture in our region.
The “Bourazani” Environmental Park operates alongside the “BOURAZANI” hotel, is open to the public all year round and receives visits daily.
Natural History Museum "Bourazani"
At the Burazani Museum of Natural History you have the opportunity to see with photographic representation all types of plants, all the orchids, butterflies, reptiles, amphibians, dragonflies and orthopterans of the Burazani region.
You will also observe all kinds of fish that exist in the Aoos River. The educational visits and activities at the Natural History Museum and the Environmental Park contribute to valid knowledge and the formation of environmental awareness.
They are organized and take place in the afternoon and are aimed at individual visitors, organized groups, pupils and students. The goal is to get to know the history of the area, to strengthen the connection with nature and to cultivate positive attitudes and values for the preservation of natural wealth through the joy of observation and research, cooperation and creation.
